Infogain: Applying the Scaled Agile Framework in an Outsourcing Context

Posted by:

Many larger enterprises leverage their IT development with outsourcing partners in India, China and other parts of the world, so the Scaled Agile Framework is routinely applied in widely geographically distributed organizations. (Heck, that’s probably one of the main reasons it exists.) In this case study, we describe one such example. Infogain Corporation (http://www.infogain.com/) is an India-based outsourcing service provider that adopted SAFe in multiple client programs to foster better alignment with client stakeholders and the ...

Announcing SAFe Version 2.5 Preview!

Posted by:

For those SPCs and others who have been working directly with the Scaled Agile Framework, it will come as no surprise that the next update – V2.5 – is imminent. Indeed, many of you have contributed to the new concepts, including a few of you who were directly involved in redesigning that gnarly release-planning-flow thing. In addition, we’ve struggled over time with communicating the Develop on Cadence, Deliver on Demand message, that is not so obvious from the 2.1 Big ...

Some SAFe KPIs

Posted by:

Taichi Ohno is quoted as saying “Where there is no standard, there can be no kaizen”, so measuring is integral to the process of improvement and understanding business performance.  Therefore, I thought I’d just take a moment to report on some statistics about SAFe usage. This is part of how we track our progress in the market, the business of Scaled Agile, Inc. and its brand of Scaled Agile Academy.

A 41 Point Perspective on SAFe?

Posted by:

Hi,

Rob Pinna and I go way (and I mean way, way) back. I was interesed to see his perspective on the Scaled Agile Framework that he just published in a recent blog post. I thought he did a pretty good job of summarizing, but you can judge for yourself here.

Filling some UnSAFe Holes

Posted by:

Alex has been in town for the last few weeks, and we have been working hard on SAFe and the associated courseware. We started a week or so back by reviewing the product backlog item we call “UnSAFe holes”, i.e. places where we had weak, old, or inconsistent methodology, relative to our evolving, current understanding and related courseware. (Even as a toddler, our baby has some legacy code. Does yours?)

We were working at the Team Level, where we had some ...

After a lot of discussion, we decided to just post the latest version of the SAFe foundations briefing for everyone’s use. In addition, yesterday we recorded a webinar, sponsored by our partners, where I delivered the new briefing to about 600 people. Both the slide deck and the webinar are posted here: scaledagileframework.com/foundations. Please note that the slide deck has certain restrictions on use, which are included in the presentation itself.

An Elaboration on Epic Templates and Formats

Posted by:

We’ve updated Epics, Business Epics and Architectural Epics to include the new Epic Value Statement format we’ve been using in the field. In addition, to help avoid the annoyance of having to manually create the Lightweight Business Case Template, we’ve included it in Word document form as a download at Epics as well.

With this addition, we have clarified the three recommended formats for system description (requirements) as follows:
